Imperfections are the dimples on the face of life

I have frequently told my family that I want this engraved as my epitaph. They are not amused.

It is common to feel that one has “missed the boat” by “settling” down early with someone who, later on, doesnt “Feel” like a soul mate.
The Ya-Du is a very difficult poetic form. This is an easy representation of the syllabic count and required rhyme. See if I did it correctly!
O. O. O. a.
O. O. a. O
O. a. O. b
O. O. b. c.
O. b. O. O. O. O. O. O. c. [but can have 5, 7, 9 or 11]
Verdant forest trails,
follow hill and dale
to vistas unveiled;
Lifepaths unwrapped.
Rugged cliffs to scale.
Choice, push on or bail;
continue or fail?
Lifecourse unmapped.

The Cyhydedd Hir, is a Welsh poetry form.
Here is the format for writing a Cyhydedd Hir:
It is an octave stanza (8 lines) made up of two quatrains (4 lines). The syllable count is 5-5-5-4-5-5-5-4 and the rhyming scheme is aaaBaaaB. If you do more than two quatrains the rhyming scheme would be as follows: aaaBaaaBcccDcccD. The five syllable lines all have the same end rhyme and the four syllable lines carry the second rhyme pattern from stanza to stanza.
Soar with me my dear
in commingled spheres!
Shatter without fear;
Bodies entwined.
Together we steer,
ardently sincere,
soul to soul adhere;
Essence combined.

Verdant forest screened
Canopy of green
Mountain vistas seen–
a foggy veil
Waterfalls between
jagged cliffs unseamed
by erosive means–
watery trails

Tumbling springs fall
carving walls grooved
as scrawling notes
flashly floating
while coating all it touches with misty motes.
For Voices of Poetry and Prose magazine entry submission: Ya-Du Poetry Form
The rules for this poetry form are as follows. These rules are pretty rigid, and I actually do not follow one of the rules as stated below. Can you find it?
•1, 2, or 3 stanzas, each with 5 lines;
•Lines 1, 2, 3, and 4 have four syllables;
•Line 5 has 5, 7, 9, or 11 syllables;
•Lines 4 and 5 have end rhyme;
•Lines 1, 2, and 3 have climbing rhyme in syllables 4, 3, and 2;
•Lines 3, 4, and 5 have climbing rhyme in syllables 4, 3, and 2;
•There should be a reference to the seasons.
Hollow values inculcate
worship of what is youthful;
populations’ emulate,
repressing what is truthful.
Moral mores educate
masses on what to follow;
yet most try to replicate
beauty blessed by the hollow
This is the poetry form and it is hard to change it to versification in English so the main concentration is on rhyme scheme and syllables. Basically, it’s a quatrain stanza with 7 syllables per line. Lines 1 and 3 rhyme in three syllable rhymes. While lines 2 and 4 rhyme in two syllable rhymes. The poem should end with the same first syllable, word or line with which it began. Tough poetry form!
Let go, I say,
for today is
a play that steers
your heart. Hear it?
Dont fear the hour, seize this day….commit!
The Ya-Du is a very difficult poetic form. Greg, from Memoirsofadragon, used this wonderful guide to help him build his poem and I am stealing it! It shows exactly what needs to rhyme on what syllable.
This is dedicated to all you patient procrastinators!

The Ya-Du is my nemesis; therefore I must attempt it again and again to master this very difficult poetry form! How to say something meaningful with so many restrictive rules is good for me! Below is the form written out in syllables, thanks to Memoirsofadragon.

Sharp tongue–
blade thrusts deeply,
a mercilous home strike.
Hands on mouth, remorse negates scene–
Forgive
I sometimes feel like this little girl. If tears could leave scars my face would be unrecognizable, both from giving and receiving harsh words. It is in moments of stress that we must take the most care over what we say to others. And I, with impulsive need, must be twice as careful.
