Seize The Day (Ya-Du)

 Let go, I say,

for today is

a play that steers

your heart.  Hear it?

Dont fear the hour, seize this day….commit!

The Ya-Du is a very difficult poetic form.  Greg, from Memoirsofadragon, used this wonderful guide to help him build his poem and I am stealing it!  It shows exactly what needs to rhyme on what syllable.

This is dedicated to all you patient procrastinators!

O. O. O. a.

O. O. a. O

O. a. O. b

O. O. b. c.

O. b. O. O. O. O. O. O. c. [but can have 5, 7, 9 or 11]

Solitary soul (Senryu)

Solitary soul

restless eyes flicker to mine

suggestive longing

Picture: Kiss the Girl by puppyartstudios

For those two moments in my life where I looked at something…and KNEW…just one glance and I was hooked…..

Senryu: same as Haiku structure but the theme is generally related to relationships or feelings while Haiku stresses nature

Stroke (Fibonacci)

Strokes
glide
over
sultry skin
as lashes flicker;
Sensual butterfly kisses
dip and dive into my intimate body parts.
Moaning, this torturous caress conflagrates tickled nerves into a phoenix re-born

What can I say?  A “hot” poem for a “hot” summer night…….   🙂

Fibonacci:  a non-rhyming poem structured with the Fibonacci sequence (0 or 1, 1, 2, 3, 5 etc).  Fibonacci sequence is adding the two prior numbers together to get the new number.   If one starts at “zero” then the first two lines are single syllable. Most poems stop at 13 syllables for the last line.

Beguiled (Ya-Du)

Forswear this day;

fly away with

me! Playful smiles

will beguile time….

fertile moments most sublime…..

The Ya-Du is my nemesis; therefore I must attempt it again and again to master this very difficult poetry form!  How to say something meaningful with so many restrictive rules is good for me!  Below is the form written out in syllables, thanks to Memoirsofadragon.
