Frost bite


heart, irregular beat

with slow, thready pulse that leads to


Death by freezing slows the heart, freezes the body from the outside in.  Death from a broken relationship often does the same.  The heart is the last to stay alive, struggling for oxygen and warm blood flow.  But eventually it slows, chills and turns to ice.  For Aunt Jean, RIP.


Cinquain: 5 lines. Line one: 2 syllables, line two: 4 syllables, line three: 6 syllables, line 4: 8 syllables, line five: 2 syllables
